Not too late to enter Plexus Half Marathon

Late entries to run the popular Plexus Half Marathon, 10km run and 5km fun run, hosted by the Plexus Durbanville Athletic Club on 31 October, will be accepted on the day before and the morning before the race.

This popular event will once again give runners the opportunity to enjoy the scenic Durbanville surrounds with its route through the winelands on the outskirts of the town. With its choice of distances, the race attracts some of the top runners in the Peninsula and beyond. While there is no official walking race, walkers are welcome to participate.

“For the fifth consecutive year Plexus is delighted to be sponsoring the event, which has also become an enjoyable family outing,” says Gys Botha of the Plexus group. “The group’s sponsorship of the Plexus Durbanville Athletic Club ensures the club is able to host one of the best half marathons in the Western Cape.”

Proceeds from the race, together with contributions from other business sponsors, will be donated to Proud Partners. Chaired by former television presenter and producer Ms Isabel Verwey, this charity provides primary schools in disadvantaged communities with musical instruments and assists with music tuition.

Although pre-entries entries are closed, late entries will still be accepted. Enter on Saturday from 13h00 to 17h00 at the Durbanville Cricket Club or on the morning of the race from 06h00.

The half marathon starts at 07h30, the 10 km run at 07h45 km and the 5 km fun run at 08h00. There are some great lucky draw prizes on offer for participants, including a weekend away for two at Aquila Game Reserve and six R500 cash prizes.
