This year brings the 26th PPC Cement Riebeeck Bergmarathon to the eager athletes of the Western Cape. A Comrade's qualifier, the event offers athletes and their families a perfect opportunity to take a break and experience a weekend away in the picturesque Riebeeck Valley.
Starting at the PPC Cement plant in Riebeeck West on the 30th of July, the event is not just for avid marathon runners as participants can enter any of the four races on offer:
• Marathon 42.2 km (Comrades qualifier) @ 07h30
• Half Marathon 21.1 km (Walkers welcome) @ 08h00
• Run/Walk 10 km @ 08h30
• Fun Run/Walk 5 km @ 08h45
The event remains a highlight on the Western Cape marathon calendar for athletes and registration is now open. Only an hour and a half's drive away from Cape Town, participants and their families are encouraged to enter the various races of this marathon, endorsed by ChampionChip and organised by PPC and the Swartland Athletics Club.
The closing date for entries is Monday, July 17, 2011. No late entries will be accepted.
