Mandy-Lee Jacobs

Age Group: Senior (23 years)

Occupation: Operator at the Wheel of Excellence at the Waterfront

Years at club: About 6 years.

How long have you been a runner: My first encounter with running was when I was 9 years old at the primary school's colour sport. Since then the bug has gotten me (14 years of running).

Kilometers per week (currently): About 0-60km (difficult to always get those longer runs in with studying and working).

Favourite race: Neil Joubert 13km farm race. I love the vibe in that race and the route is also a nice challenge.

Favorite running shoes: New Balance or Adidas

Goals for 2012: I would like to run my first half marathon before this year is over.

Favourite music: I like a variety of music. From my mom's old classics to some mellow rock music.

Last movie seen: Jack and Jill (of Adam Sandler)

Last book read: Connections (by Sheila O'Flanagan)

I like to eat: I love pizza and a nice cooked meal for example chicken snitzel with some chips and spinach and sweet carrots.

I like to drink: Coca cola, Ameretto and lime and occasionally an ice cold beer or a glass of wine, depending on the occasion.

What do you do with your spare time (if you are not running): I like reading, watching movies, playing games, cycling and shopping around for interesting stuff.

What few people know about you: I am the only female operator in SA of the ferris wheel type at the Waterfront that's 40m high. I completed my Bachelor's degree in psychology and am currently studying my postgrad in teaching through UNISA. Oh ya, and I despise any food or drink that contains ginger.
