The third league of the 2018 season truly showed how dedicated our WP cross country runners, technical officials and event organisers and volunteers are - and how much we all enjoy what we do! The weather conditions were stormy, waterlogged, muddy, cold, windy ... and there was even hail in the last race ... And yet there were nothing but smiles and dirty shoes all around among the nearly 800 athletes and ample supporters and helpers.
Coffee and boerewors rolls kept us warm and filled our stomachs, and DJ Brian kept the tunes going when the conditions allowed - making for a vibe far warmer than the weather.
On the course, the senior 10km men heated things up, with Ashley Smith of UWC taking the win in 34:27, just seconds ahead of chasing Akona Makila and Siviwe Nkombi. The women's race was decided earlier on, with Bulelwa Simae once again winning in 41:45, ahead of Leanda Du Bruyn who is visiting us on a break from racing in the USA.
