The #WPACC2019 season started off on Saturday 25 May with an uncharacteristically warm and dry day at Youngsfield for League 1 hosted by SANDF WP, with some runners even longing for the cooler wetter weather of past years.
With record fields in the masters and 10km races, many clubs showed they're in it for the team trophies this year.
The Carbineers ladies and K-Way VOB men's teams showed they're not relinquishing their 2018 titles without a fight, but as we've seen in the past - a lot can change in the winter months. Amos Nyongo of Boxer WP showed he's keen to shine for his new province, with a 10km win in 32:18, followed by last year's WP champ Akhona Makila (Sanlam) and ever-consistent Andre Afrika (Eerste River). The ladies race was won By Sophie Cope of UCT in 41:33, chased closely by Nolubabalo Dyonase (K-Way VOB) and Tina-Mari Meyer rounded out the podium in her last cross country before heading to the USA.
The next League event will be held at CPUT athletics track on Monday 17 June 2019 (please note the date change to the public holiday due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances).
