To all our fellow BAK Members
With the first four months of the year done and dusted I am
so happy to report that the growth the club has experienced this year so far is
way beyond our expectations! We are currently on 363 members which is 13 %
higher than what we ended 2018 on, and more new members are expected to join in
the coming months. What is also very pleasing to me is that our female members
now make up 48% of our total members, the normal split is around 60/40, it is
great to see so many new lady runners.
Well done to all our members that took part in the Two
Oceans Marathon and Half Marathon events, as well as the Safari Half and 10km events, we are extremely proud of you all!
We have seen over the last few months that there are still
members at races that are not running in NAVY shorts or tights, this is against
the rules of the club and I urge you all to take pride in our official club
kit, we are one of the oldest clubs in the Western Cape and I am asking every
member to represent us with pride at all races.
As everyone knows the Run Clean Campaign is a huge talking
point at the moment, I am asking our members to lead by example and to support
the campaign wholeheartedly, let us as Bellville Athletic Club show other
clubs how not to litter. Please ensure you only drop your sachets in the bins
or carry them with you until you are able drop them in a bin, let us strive to
be a zero-littering club.
Lastly I want to congratulate our members for the amazing
club spirit shown at races, the encouragement and support I see between members
is fantastic and my wish is to grow this even more. My request is keep on
supporting each other, get to know your fellow club mates, come join us at the
time trials on Thursday evenings, come have a drink at the club gazebo when it
is at a race. Let us make our club, a club that people want to be part of.
To all our Comrades Runners, good luck for the last month
of training, please stay healthy and injury free.
Happy Running and see you on the road.
