July Captains
corner: Ladies
Dear wonderful ladies
Lots have happened over the last month, especially with Comrades and
Orak the two big endurance races.
Congratulations to all the ladies that took part in Comrades this year
especially the novices. You are true champions and a real inspiration to all of
us.
ORAK was again a big hit this year with 30 ladies that took part in this
race. I am proud to announce that for the 6th year in a row the LADIES
has won the challenge again by a very big margin!!
Well done to Captain Meyer and his men for bringing the challenge to us
and doing so well themselves. I am so proud of every lady that did their
personal bests and reached numbers beyond what they imagined. A huge
congratulations to Joretha Kruger , Maryke Treurnich and Elizabeth Smal our top
3 ladies winners.
I would like to say a special thank you everyone who contributed to the
success of our ORAK CANSA charity campaign, especially for all the organizing
and purchasing of all the goodies for the charity. Without your assistance this
would not have been possible.
There were some ladies that did extremely well on the road during the
races in May.
Joretha Kruger (Veteran) ran a very good time of 1:40:60 at Herfsprag,
Zeta Rodwell (Junior) came in 3rd place in her category with Safari Half
Marathon. Marietha Herbert also did extremely well and earned 3 x first place
finishes (Safari, UCT Memorial, Laguna Mall) and 2 x second place finishes (One
Run, Spar) podium positions.
Well done to all the other ladies that did their personal bests, keep
going, stay motivated and give it all you got.
I am so proud of everyone and I can feel the wonderful vibe in the club
and everyone supporting each other and cheering them on to reach new heights.
The Sunday Ladies run is a bit slow this winter, but we will continue
weather permitting and hope to see some new faces during the winter months.
For all the ladies that have birthdays this month, may it be a blessed
new year, and may your year be filled with loads of joy, happiness, good
fortune and health.
Have a wonderful month of running and training. Stay safe and injury
free.
Kind regards
