August Captains corner: Ladies
Dear wonderful ladies
The winter has been a bit wet with not much happening all around.
To all
those who competed in the Festival of running events and reached podium spots, or
reached their personal bests on other races, I want to congratulate all of you
for pushing yourself and reaching higher goals.
I am so proud of everyone that
have been training and getting up early in the cold, keep going ladies!
The month of August is here with loads happening. As you all know we are
separating from the Track Athletes and forming a new club with a new
constitution and name. I would like to personally invite all of you to
attend the SGM, to vote for the new name and to come and be part of the historic
change. We value your input and presence on the day
Puffer is also around the corner and some of our ladies are competing in
the event for the first time. Please come and support them. It's a tough event
and I know you will do great.
There will also be a special ladies’ event on Woman’s day and all the
ladies are invited. If you are here and would like to take part, please let me
know by latest 6 August. All info will be sent out soon.
For those who have injuries or struggling to get going during the
winter, I would like to motivate you to start today with strength training and
getting slowly back into gear. I know it's not easy, but you can do it! It's
time for us to get our bodies ready for the summer. Loads of runs happening and
some new challenges, like the 10km challenge as well as the Ultra challenge, which
will be presented soon.
I would also like to invite all ladies to come and join the Ladies run on
Sundays. Let’s build a big group and get to know each other. It’s a social run
so we don't worry about time and how fast everyone is going. Bring a lady
friend and join us. Perfect way to break away from everything and have a
"me time" with friends and some lovely coffee and chat at the end. If
you are not on the group and wish to join, let me know and I will add you.
Congratulations to everyone with their birthdays in August, may you all
be blessed and have the best year to come, with loads of personal bests and
happy kilometres on the road.
Happy running ladies
Kind regards
Your ladies captain
